I am not a plein air artist. At this point in my life, I don't have the patience for fighting wind, biting insects, cold, heat, and other uncomfortable things. But I do sketch when I'm out. Actually, they are more scribbles than sketches. I like them because I'm not trying to reproduce what I see; I'm making notes. When I paint while referencing my scribble sketches. I rely on my memory and/or imagination to work the piece. This painting is mash-up of several scribble sketches.
